MIAMI – February 12, 2014 – Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. (LSGMI), the largest provider of broad-based civil legal services for the poor in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, and the GenNext Initiative, an assembly of young attorneys who support the public service efforts of LSGMI, recently held a partnership event with “Away for a Stray” Pet Rescue, finding forever homes for their strays, at the Center for Visual Communication: Bunny Yeager Retrospect Gallery Show. Titled “Applause for Paws and Laws,” the evening of networking attracted guests from the legal, real estate and business community as well as animal loving Arts patrons.

The fundraiser was accented by a 1950’s style cocktail and hors d’oeuvres during a reception featuring some of Yeager’s most iconic and historic photos. Delighted with seeing the large gathering of South Florida’s animal and equal rights philanthropists, Yeager graciously autographed her Retrospective photography book and greeted attendees.

A Way For A Stray raises awareness of the growing population of stray animals in Miami-Dade and helps promote responsible pet ownership and care. The organization also assists in the care and placement of homeless, neglected and abandoned dogs in the city of Miami.

“Our goals are to change the lives of animals, one dog at a time, and promote our movement throughout the community,” said Cristina Butler, A Way For A Stray President. “Understanding that displaced families incur displaced pets, we feel that combining the two charities’ missions was a winning partnership for all involved.”

“We are deeply grateful for support from the local community and the GenNext Initiative, which helps LSGMI protect the legal rights of vulnerable individuals and families in our community,” said Marcia K. Cypen, LSGMI Executive Director.

LSGMI would like to thank the outstanding co-sponsors: Kluger, Kaplan Law Firm, and Dade County Bar Association – Young Lawyers Section as well as the generous in-kind sponsors: Bardot Nightclub and Bar, The Opium Group Nightclubs, South Beach Animal Hospital, The Law Office of Elise Rodriguez, P.A., Simply Sweethearts Pet Spa and Boutique, Off the Hookah, Gigi’s Restaurant, Waggle Brothers Pet Resort, Contour Day Spa, Matisse Salon, Carlos Wolf, Miami Plastic Surgery Center and Miami Club Rum.

Through the charitable donations and a beautiful Silent Auction, much needed funds were raised for both organizations.
