Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., held its third annual Legal Eagle Closing Argument Competition on June 14, 2014 at the University of Miami School of Law. Kristen A. Corpion, a first year associate at Greenberg Traurig, is this year’s winner, successfully arguing both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s positions. As this year’s winner, she has earned the title as “Best Closing Attorney in South Florida” and will hold the perpetual trophy until next year’s competition. Special thanks to Jane Muir of Gersten & Muir, and David Gersten of Bilzin Sumberg for spearheading this event.
The competition is an initiative of GenNext, a group of rising young professionals in our community that raise awareness and support for LSGMI. Proceeds from this year’s competition will benefit the Gwen S. Cherry and H.T. Smith Law Student Fellowships at LSGMI.
LSGMI is grateful to the following sponsors for their contributions to making this event such a success: Bilzin Sumberg, Gersten & Muir, PA, the University of Miami, Kiwi Branding, US Legal Support, the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr., Bar Association and the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association.
