John Little, Esq., and Louis M. Jepeway, Jr., Esq. Honored for their Contribution to Community Development
On June 19, 2014, Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., (LSGMI) held a reception honoring Board member Louis M. Jepeway, Jr., Esq. and Advocacy Director John Little, Esq. for their outstanding contributions to community development in Miami-Dade County. The reception was very generously hosted by Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A.
Mr. Little, who is retiring from LSGMI after 29 years of service, has been a leader in providing legal representation to non-profit community development corporations focused on revitalizing low-income and underserved neighborhoods in Miami-Dade County. Because of his tireless efforts, distressed communities have access to local marketplaces and affordable housing.
“We were very fortunate to have John come to LSGMI 29 years ago to spearhead our community development efforts,” said LSGMI Executive Director Marcia K. Cypen. “LSGMI will continue our commitment to this important work under the leadership of Shahrzad Emami, Esq., who has worked closely with John for the past seven years.”
Mr. Jepeway was presented with the 2014 Philanthropy Award for his long standing support of the Community Development Project. Notably, Mr. Jepeway is LSGMI’s largest individual donor, and has generously supported community development for the past eighteen years in memory of his beloved parents, Frances and Louis M. Jepeway.
“For Lou, giving to support community development is Tzedakah–an act of justice, said Cypen. “Lou gives because he wants to help ‘fix the world’ and to implement a just vision for the world.”
