Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. (LSGMI) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Kaufman Rossin Accounting Fellowship at LSGMI. The Fellow will work in LSGMI’s Finance Department performing daily accounting functions and will also have the opportunity to meet with Kaufman staff and attend relevant trainings.
The Kaufman Rossin Group, one of the top 100 firms in the U.S., provides professional services to businesses and their leaders, from inception to succession. As part of its rich tradition of social responsibility, the Kaufman Rossin Group established the Accounting Fellowship at LSGMI to provide future accountants the opportunity to work in the field of public accounting while also supporting the local community.
“Kaufman Rossin has been a long-time supporter of Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., and we’re proud to establish the Kaufman Rossin Accounting Fellowship,” said Michael P. Elkin, CPA, Forensic, Advisory and Valuation Services Principal at Kaufman Rossin. “The fellowship will give a deserving student the opportunity to make a difference through this wonderful organization that is changing lives in our community. We’re happy to help further that mission, and look forward to getting to know our first Fellow.”
The Accounting Fellowship, which is open to students enrolled in Bachelors or Masters in Accounting degree programs at local universities and graduates preparing to take the CPA exam, affords a wonderful opportunity for an ambitious accounting student who is interested in mentoring opportunities, gaining public accounting experience, and social justice. “We are deeply grateful to Kaufman Rossin. for their creative approach to supporting access to justice,” said LSGMI Executive Director Marcia K. Cypen. “The services provided by the Accounting Fellowship will strengthen our infrastructure, making it possible for us to focus our limited resources on providing legal services to people in need.”
Each year Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. provides free civil legal services which benefit almost 30,000 vulnerable members of our community who have nowhere else to turn for helpwomen, children, seniors, veterans returning from combat, people with disabilities, low wage workers and the homeless who have problems in the areas of tenants’ rights, homeownership, health, income maintenance, employment, special education, tax and consumer rights.
